How to request genuine Google reviews with a link or QR code

Give customers a direct route to share their experience. A review link or QR code reduces the effort of finding the right business listing, but the customer should choose their own rating and words.

Create the link

Google's current instructions are to open your Business Profile, choose Read reviews and then Get more reviews. You can copy the review link or save the QR code. Google says QR generation is currently available in a computer browser. See the official review-link guide.

Test the link yourself to confirm that it opens the correct business location. For a business with several branches, label each printed code clearly. A working code for the wrong branch can still create confusion.

Use a neutral request

A simple message can say:

Thank you for visiting [business]. If you would like to share your experience, you can leave an honest Google review here: [review link]. Your feedback helps us understand what went well and what we can improve.

Replace the placeholders and use the customer's preferred language where practical. Do not fill in a rating or provide a scripted testimonial for the customer to copy.

Google requires genuine experiences and prohibits incentives for reviews, including discounts or free products. The link is a convenience, not a reward programme. Apply the same neutral invitation across eligible customers rather than only asking those who appear happy.

Put the request at a sensible point

Consider a receipt, a thank-you message or a visible card after the service has been completed. Keep the request short and avoid repeated reminders that make the customer feel pressured. A support complaint should receive a useful response regardless of whether the customer leaves a review.

For an Indian business, a bilingual card may make the process clearer for local customers. Keep both language versions equally neutral. A translation should not turn an invitation for feedback into a request for five stars.

Check the process, not just the score

Review whether the link works, whether the branch is correct and whether staff understand the wording. Record recurring feedback themes and decide what service changes they suggest.

This process does not guarantee a specific review count or local ranking. Its purpose is to make authentic feedback easier to provide and easier for the business to learn from.
